The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) was designed by CKD (Praga) in 1938. The first 150 tanks were produced for the Wehrmacht as the Pz.Kpfw 38(t) Ausf.A from May to November 1939. The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) tanks were used by German, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovakian, Bulgarian armies at the initial period of WWII. They were also exported to Sweden,Switzerland,Peru,Iranand other states. The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) with excellent technical characteristics such as speed, armor protection and high reliability. The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) was the best light tank at the initial period of WWII.
The final outgrowth of the demand for heavier armour resulted in the Pz.Kpfw 38(t) Ausf.G, which used basic 50mm armour plate for all frontal surfaces. More extensive use of welding was made in the construction of this model. The Pz.Kpfw 38(t) Ausf.G was mainly served inRussiaand various models of the Pz.Kpfw 38(t) series were exported to the German allies.
Pz.BfWg 38(t) command tank was the standard Praga tank with the additional Fu 8, radio station installed instead of the bow machine gun and the frame antenna over motor compartment. Each Wehrmacht panzer division has 7-10 Praga command tanks. The total of 300 PzBfWg were produced.

LT vz. 38 ou Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t) était à l'origine un char léger tchécoslovaque et plus tard un char léger allemand de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Les premiers prototypes du véhicule ont été créés en 1938 et la production en série s'est poursuivie dans la période 1938-1942, se terminant par la production d'environ 1 400 véhicules. Le char était propulsé par un seul moteur Prague EPA de 125 CV. Il était armé d'un canon de 37,2 mm KwK 38 (t) L/47 et de deux mitrailleuses de 7,92 mm MG 37 (t).
L'usine CKD en Tchécoslovaquie a produit le char LT vz.35 de 1935, qui a été vendu à l'armée nationale, mais qui - comme il s'est avéré au cours de son fonctionnement - présentait un certain nombre d'inconvénients qui empêchaient de réussir à l'étranger marchés. D'où l'initiative de la société CKD qui a décidé de développer le LT vz. 38. Le nouveau véhicule s'est avéré être une bien meilleure conception que son prédécesseur, ce qui a entraîné des commandes passées par le Pérou, l'Iran, la Suisse et l'armée tchécoslovaque. LT vz. 38 après la prise de contrôle de la Tchécoslovaquie par le Troisième Reich, elle fut reprise par la Wehrmacht sous le nom de Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t), et sa production a continué. Le char a participé à la campagne de septembre en 1939, à la campagne de France en 1940 et à la période initiale de la guerre avec l'URSS. A partir de la seconde moitié de 1941, cependant, il fut retiré du service en raison d'un blindage trop faible et d'une faible susceptibilité à la modernisation. Basé sur le châssis Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t), un chasseur de chars nommé Hetzer a été créé.
